Untrue story?
I just want to clarify that for those of you complaining that this movie is a total fabrication for the events as depicted in the "biopic" novels on Kuklinski's life should really do some further research on the man. Between the two books and the two documentaries filmed by HBO very little of what is said in any of them about Kuklinski is actually true. The reality is that he was a low rung thug that had a tenuous at best connection to DeMeo and his crew. Yes, he was a murderer, but he has GREATLY exaggerated his exploits.
This is confirmed in several interviews with famed mafia turncoat, Sammy Gravano who scoffed at the idea that they would have contracted an outsider to whack a captain. In addition, several detectives on the NYPD (who worked on the Kuklinski case and DeMeo murder) have also both expressed great doubt at many of Kuklinski's claims.
As for the books, you'll note that the author has been criticized for doing little research on his biography of Kuklinski and in many cases, simply took his word for many events he claims took place. The fact is, after he was arrested and jailed for the rest of his life, he had nothing to lose, so he hyperbolized his role in the mafia and the demeo crew, the number of people he's killed and the famous assassinations he's tried to take credit for, including the DeMeo murder.
