I hate how Richard Kuklinski was protrayed

This man was a monster. They portrayed him as a loving father and husband, who only committed heinous crimes to other people. He malicious beat his wife and would tell his daughters he would kill them if he ever accidently killed their mother. What kind of loving father does that? This guy is a classical definition of a violent psychopaths. I hate when writers do this, like with Dexter making it look like psychopaths can turn their empathy off and on and have compassion for others. In the real world, these people can only care for themselves and do not regret the horrible things they have inflicted on others.

The difference between Dexter and Kuklinski is that Dexter is a fictional character. When it comes to movies properly portraying a condition or event always takes a backseat to storytelling (ARGO!).

You're right, Kuklinski was a total psycho and the movie doesn't portray him accurately but movies are about entertainment and it would not be so entertaining to watch a movie about a psycho without SOME redeeming quality (of which Kuklinski had none). An accurate portrayal of him would have been less interesting to watch.

That's exactly why I love Dexter because he's got more layers than a common realistic psychopath. If they did portray him as a one-dimensional psycho with no emotion he and the show would be very boring. I think Dexter has become more in line with The Punisher than anything else.

I hate the fact they soft soaped the story.
He forced his wife to marry him by threatening to kill her family and he severely beat her regularly, at one point I believe he caused her to miscarry.
He told his kids he would have to kill them if he happened to beat his wife to death.
His life story starting from his childhood was truly horrible but so fascinating and I definitely didn't get that from this movie whatsoever.

I completely agree with you. After reading some of the facts, and particularly that he wasn't kind at all to his family, the biggest lie in the film in my opinion, I downgraded my Imdb vote.

Where's the source for the real life person? I heard that there was a book written but was mostly fables as Kuklinski was a pathological liar and the author wanted to capitalize...?

I agree, however, with all of what I've read about psychopaths that the Iceman in this movie seems a bit of an anomoly, as does Dexter, if you can even analogize a real life to one of fiction...

I liked the movie before I views a couple documentaries...but I still like the movie even though it's totally off base. I just like entertainment. My biggest shortcoming, I might add.
