bit confused after reading carlo book and then watching film

I just don't get for sure who Kuklinkski was...in the book he's a savage wife beater and whilst he does love his wife in his own way, hes a horrible man to be around at times...but the film shows him having a tempter but him and his wife are in love

His wife actually turned up to court to support him (i don't know how she'd ever do that after years of supposed abuse and fear for her life...I also don't get why she allowed a movie to be made about herself and Kuklinksi which showed the opposite of how her life was...(I would personally fight any film that didn't show the truth)

OK, im gonna say it but just maybe his wife was bitter that the money was suddenly gone after years of lies and pretending not to know what he did at work and THIS is why she's been bitter in all the interviews i've read with her recently..

Not saying Kuklinkski is a good person at all, but with The Mafia been involved quite a lot, i think its quite possible he took quite a few falls for them etc etc and has been painted as a baddy...

In his interviews he comes across as been really likeable to be honest, i know hes supposed to lie quite a lot on the tapes...but i'd just like to know the truth to be honest....hope someone can help

Well, he was a hitman who showed zero remorse about his killings, and he had a personal history that fit quite a few psychological disorders so I wouldn't expect him to be a gentle and kind man with anyone, even people he loved, if he was even capable of love. But sure, movies are movies. Even cold blooded killers needs to have a redeeming side or the movie would never be made.

The movie does say he never saw his family again, which I find hard to believe if he was such a loving and kind man with them. His wife might have been bitter about the money but his daughters would have visited him in jail.
