This guy is a brilliant actor and was on the level of a Deniro in his heyday in this film. Shannon, just like Deniro had all the head, facial and eye movements that make a great performace, especially in a crime flick.

Ive read some stuff on the real life Kuklinski and theres a lot of different stories about him and was he really as bad as he says he was. So i dont know if this guy was a real gangster or or not.....what i do know is Michael Shannon took this role and made us know without a doubt that he can play a gangster and do it as good as any of the other actors known for gangster movie.

With that said, I would give the movie a 5 out of 10 but I bump it up 2 points for Shannon's performance. Thats how good he was imo....good enough to turn an average movie into a good one.

I agree with a lot of what you said. I think the movie was about 6.5 out of 10 material but Shannon elevated it to an 8 for me. I have been a fan of Shannon since his performance in 8 Mile. Then seeing him in my favorite TV show Boardwalk Empire I really grew attached to him. In roles like Take Shelter, Mud, and Revolutionary Road he was superb. But in The Iceman he gave an Oscar worthy performance. It's to bad he will be left out of the nominations. This guy is one of the best working actors along with Cage, DiCaprio, Sam Rockwell, Matt Damon and Edward Norton.

I agree. Ever since I saw Shannon in Bug I didn't care for him but ever The Runaways, I've started paying more attention to him . And after watching Boardwalk Empire-holy *beep* Lol
Michael Shannon is like Michael Sheen, he's a great underrated actor that doesn't get enough credit.

I was really looking forward to this but I wasn't sure if Shannon could pull it off because physically he doesn't look like Kuklinski but damn did he pull it off. His mannerisms, his attitude and the last scene of the movie where they're recreating the Iceman Tapes was unreal, he nailed it.
