Kuklinski let's the girl go despite being a witness because he's against killing women. Mr. Softee tries to chase her down , but gets stopped by the Iceman. Months later he tries to win over Kuklinski by showing him the body of the girl he was almost killed for trying to chase down and it works.

Am I missing something here?

at that point kuklinski was out of a job and needed work, as for the girl he had saved her once and it fulfilled his personal sense of honor he wasn't there the second time and he accepted that
