Fact vs Fiction

Fact: Kuklinski killed over 200 people.
Kuklinski did indeed work for Roy DeMeo.
Kuklinski did kill Mr. Softee.
He was captured in a State Police sting operation.
Roy DeMeo did shoot Chris Rosenberg.
Nino Gaggi did order Rosenberg's execution.

Fiction: Mr. Softee was shot with three .38 cal. revolver bullets in his van.
Roy DeMeo shot Chris Rosenberg in the head not the chest.
Rosenberg managed to get back up to one knee then was shot twice more
in the back of the head by the Gemini Twins.
Rosenberg was not shot by Nino Gaggi. Gaggi wasn't even there.
Nino Gaggi wasn't murdered by the Iceman. He was in the MCC serving
prison sentence
& awaiting trial on RICO charges when he dropped dead of a heart
attack in jail.
Henry Borelli wasn't murdered by the Iceman by cyanide. He was also
convicted of RICO charges and given a life sentence which he is still
serving.

I'm guessing everything there is fact, even what you list under "fiction"?

Only 5 murders have been verified. The rest is hearsay.

Seeing the movie only depicts 15 hits, I'd say the film-makers perhaps took some of Kuklinski's claims with a grain of salt.

I think the main theme the film wished to explore was the contrasting between Kuklinski's professional and private lives. The numbers are relatively unimportant IMO.
