How much of his story is actually confirmed?

I know that he was known for telling tall tales in interviews (killing Hoffa and DeMeo), but I didn't realize how much of his story was unconfirmed. After seeing the movie, I went and re-read some of the details of his story for the first time in years. I didn't even remember he "claimed" to be a mafia hitman, I thought it was a given. And he was only convicted on killing, what 3 people?

They still haven't even said how he died, did they? A lot of mystery around this guy.

Most of his claims have been debunked.

There isn't evidence showing him to be a contract killer for the DeMeos, and surely not of his other wild claims like being involved in the Castalleno hit.
