Abusing Wife

Its a fact he physically abused his wife, stabbing her, choking her, breaking her nose, ribs etc. he terrorized his family far more than what they showed in the movie. After doing follow up on this film, i cant understand why they gave him any humanity at all. He was a true psychopath in every sense of the word. I enjoyed the film, but definitely with a grain of salt.

Good to see winona working, always great to see ray liotta and chris evans again this time in a role i didnt expect him to get. Kudos to him. And a shout out to robert davi!! Michael Shannon does sick freak perfectly!

My thoughts exactly! The film over-humanized him.

Several years ago, I watched the documentary where Kuklinski talks with a psychologist/psychiatrist, and I distinctly remember him calmly describing his numerous murders, as if he were talking about a boring workday. He certainly did not show any remorse. And I also remember that he abused his family. Even when he mentioned them, he remained completely indifferent.

If I recall correctly, the psychologist diagnosed him as a psychopath with paranoid tendencies.

It's a strange movie this one.
I too noticed how they brushed over Kuklinski being abusive to his wife. They didn't show him being a gambler or an apparent womaniser either. They made him into a cliched everyday man who got pushed into killing people.

There's a bunch I liked of the movie, from the cast, the cars, clothes. But it turned into a bore-fest.

They did make him appear more sane than he was irl. I wished they had tapped more into his abusive childhood as well, instead of just giving the audience a few flashbacks. All that being said, I still enjoyed the film. Shannon did a great job.

A bunch of the movie is just fiction.

In all likelihood he wasn't a Mafia contract killer (these guys get orders to do hits and they follow them because they have to), his connections with the Mafia were that he may have worked with Roy Demeo in selling porn videos. Demeo had a whole crew of demented people and they killed people basically in an assembly line. He supposedly hires some guy and pays him big money to do hits?
