It had limited goals. It wanted to tell a story. It did it almost as a documentary. I wasn't bored, because the story was so "strange, but true". I just kept wondering why they were so satisfied being so low-key.
and yes, like others, I didn't realize that was david schwimmer until I saw a post here aobut him. I kept thinking "I know that guy, but I can't figure out who he is." He almost looked like Tom Cruise in some weird getup.
But then again, I'm not much of a fan of schwimmer or most individual actors. They do a job. They get paid. Next.
Some of us have lives. He is famous for Friends, right? You've seen every episode of Friends 4 times, right? Sorry. I've seen about 25 minutes of Friends spread over 3 or 4 attempts to watch it.
The only thing I can say I remember seeing Schwimmer in is Band of Brothers. Or at least I think I remember he was in BoB. He just doesn't rate to register. And so it goes.
And yet he rated your notice in Band of Brothers. He's one of those hyper annoying people with an instantly recognizable voice. It's really not that much of a stretch to think 99% of the population would recognize his voice almost immediately.
Earth to dvd7. Come in dvd7. Learn to read dvd7. As I said, "at least I THINK I noticed him in BoB". But no, he didn't rate. You want the full story? When I saw the threads here about Schwimmer, I said to myself "Self, besides Friends, was he in anything I've seen or even heard of?" So. I went to his imdb page and the only thing on his "resume" that appeared likely was BoB. Then I remembered that maybe when I was watching BoB, I recognized him because he stood out like a sore thumb. But then again, maybe I recognized someone else who stood out like a sore thumb in Saving Pvt Ryan. I'm not sure. Why? Because guys like Schwimmer don't rate. I'll bet you get that a lot.
He's one of those hyper annoying people
Now, there's some hyper-exagerration. Sure he is more annoying than not. But "hyper"? No. As I said, I saw less than 30 minutes of Friends, but I thought that was the schtick … they were ALL annoying. That is why they had to be each others friends. It was like Seinfeld, but without intelligent humor.
with an instantly recognizable voice
There's some more hyper-exagerration. And aside from being hyper-exagerration, your minimal thought processes don't allow you to differentiate between "recognizing" a voice (which I didn't) and knowing WHOSE voice it is (which I never would for somebody like him with nothing truly substantial or iconic on his resume).
It's really not that much of a stretch to think 99% of the population would recognize his voice almost immediately.
LMFAO@U. That is one of the D U M Best things I have ever read. And I don't mean just on imdb. I mean in my entire life. That is insanely stupid. You live a very tiny life in a tiny, self-indulgent, and uneducated piece of the world. I'd bet you I could find easily 20% of the white US population who couldn't recognize his voice, face or anything else about him. And most of those 20% would come from the more highly-educated, more successful part of the white US population. Now, as you move outside the white population and you move outside the US, that 20% number will soar.
Here's one: I'll bet Nelson Mandela wouldn't have recognized anything about him.
If you are honest enough to retract that statement, I'll try hard to stop LMFAO@U. reply share
Dear lord, I know you don't expect me or anyone else to sift through that rant. I read enough to see that you are very angry. Will it make you feel any better if I say I'm sorry that I so deeply hurt your feelings? Will that help you sleep better tonight? I honestly hope it does for whatever that's worth. Goodness lol
eh, whatever. I knew it was David Schwimmer as soon as I heard his voice too. And I have watched about the same length of time of the show Friends as you said you had. OMG! He has a long haired wig and a fake mustache on! WHO is that guy?
limited lives that Schwimmer has made a mark on their life. Well, you're probably all Americans & probably half of you live in metro NYC. That'd explain it.
I recognized Schwimmer right away. I'm not a fan of Friends, but I have seen an episode here and there with other people. It made enough of a cultural impact that I recognize the main actors/actresses. Schwimmer is particularly easy to recognize because he isn't that great of an actor. He doesn't lose himself in roles, so you can always see him acting instead of just seeing the character he is playing.
To get back to what daddysarm originally said, this movie did feel lazy. It didn't seem like they wanted to accomplish much, and they didn't.
