Good film but unrealistic

The iceman in the film is sympathetic, and has a family, makes it look like he's doing the killing to support the family. But the real Richard Kuklinski, if you watch the documentary, is actually a sociopath, pathological, cold-blooded killer, that has shown a tendency to kill even animals at an early age just because he enjoyed killing.

Imagine if the film is adapted more to the real Richard Kuklinski. I imagine this would be something Stanley Kubrick can tackle well. But this film falls into the same Hollywood antihero kind of cliche.

How right you are the chance to make a film on a par with goodfellows and instead just a film made for effect .
If they had stuck to the real storey this could have been a trio of good films instead of this very mundane effort .
Ray Liotta still living on the coat tails of the good fellows was missed cast completely .
The star tried hard to bring some realism into the part but I think was stopped by the script written it seemed on a fag packet .
A great shame why oh why did the not read the bio for this before making this fiasco .

... if you watch the documentary ...
But we're not watching a documentary, or straight up biography. We deliberately don't get his life story, which would likely put most potential audiences off. We get a story inspired by Kuklinski, where an innately violent criminal is able to successfully compartmentalise his life for a long period, in pursuit of the noble goal of experiencing the type of normal family life, he was never able to. This film works because Kuklinski does have our sympathy, due to what he is attempting to achieve.🐭
