Things LEGO ripped off on me...(Not too serious)
So, since about 2013, I've had Legopolis in my dining room (Because who the *beep* uses a dining room in these days?) with the plan (I had the plan for the story since 2011) of making a cute little story to post on youtube.
Plain character, named Brick N. Mortar who moves to Legopolis by special invitation, finds out the Mayor is bringing people to the city so he can steal the bricks of their home islands to expand the city, then Brick finds out (in order) that the Mayor is working with the Daleks [who were transferred there by my 'god' character from the real universe for a laugh, and he gave them] and that there are portals connecting the World of Legopolis to other Worlds (Basically a time vortex, let's be honest). Oh, and a busty dame starts traveling with him, as well as a drunkard pirate (White Crabgrass Fields...WC Fields for short)
Travel to various worlds, attacks by Daleks [who now have emotions and individuality, though they try to deny it], emergence of cybermen-equivilants (Played by the battle droids, with leaders in those robots from the Exo-warriors, with a fight between the protagonists and the Daleks to get to a powerful secret hidden somewhere in the planet (Dalek super-weapon, it turns out)
So, I work on this in multiple iterations and re-dos (Originally Legopolis was implied, but when I ended up building a city, I decided to include it) feeling so excited that I have a relatively original idea to publish on the youtubes, leading me to instant worldwide fame and bitches galore.
Queue to now when I've got scripts planned out, have made a few episodes (going to have to reboot because Legopolis got mildly destroyed, and as it was built, lighting and photographing it was horrible, and the SD card with two episodes worth of photos was lost). And after watching this (very cute) film, I've realized between this and Dimensions, I've lost the last ounce of originality re: a LEGO-based storyline...
1. Multiverse aspect of LEGO worlds interconnected.
2. Regular-ish protagonist thrown into things.
3. Love interest.
4. Unconventional pirate.
5. portal-travel
6. Doctor Who cross-over (Dimensions)
7. chase/quest storyline
8. etc.
Mind you, I'll still do it, but I'm already cringing at the people who'll think I'm just 'ripping off' this movie and LEGO Dimensions.
Pointless rant over.
