What a masterpiece of animation

Absolute brilliant film. I was surprised how good this film was.

While the animation itself was cleverly done and certainly something to be admired, the film itself is a rather pointless, nonsensical mess. And yes, that might have been the point, but trying to be nonsensical doesn't make you less so unless you're Alice in Wonderland.

Did you notice by any chance that the movie is actually something of an animated remake of Fritz Lang's Metropolis? I saw this the same day I saw Peabody and Sherman and I like this one so much more!

reply

Haven't seen Metropolis yet. I will definitely give it a watch.

Having seen the original film, the animated version from 2001, and even a tv series that clearly took inspiration from Metropolis, I can clearly say The Lego Movie has no real correlations. In fact, it would be an insult to the materials I just mentioned to even consider that.

I've always thought it was an animated remake of "The Matrix." BTW - "How to Train Your Dragon 2" and "The Lego Movie" were BOTH better than "Big Hero 6."
