He probably needed a paycheck and it was easy enough for him, also, he didn't really appear all that much anyway. I didn't even know Aaron Paul was in this film so that was a great surprise.

It was a great surprise, but it ruined the ending right away. I mean, you know they're not going to put a guy like that in a movie just to die in an elevator after 30 seconds of screentime.

Tell that to Steven Seagal in Executive Decision, he died after a few minutes in the movie, and he was the co-star of the movie. Heck, he didn't even show for flashbacks or anything :D
