He said in an interview that he was playing a guy who's brain never developed since High School in those kind of situations. Pretty much a big kid.

I thought that was done deliberately; first as a cover to get Hart's character on-side, second to display his character had some psychopathic tendencies/mentality instability.
shareI did notice that he plays this bubbly gym junkie. I think he didnt play it well as he thought he did or the director was satisfied with his lame performance. I dont know which is the case.
There is a better way to play this naive/simple high-school buddy in order to get Hart on his side while lying that he is a CIA agent.
Bob Stone reminded me so much of cody from step by step; just pay attention to the rock's mannerisms and facial expressions.
