I enjoyed this much more than what the bad reviews would suggest

Yeah it was low budget production, but never in one minute did I feel bored watching this movie.

The main characters were all interesting, especially Dafoe - every scene he was in was great. Waltz and Bratt were excellent.

I don't understand the hate for this movie. It had tension, good dialog, and some really great Old West gunfights.

If you just want to see a classic style western, this is a good time.

I agree, after the reviews I expected worse.

It's not bad at all. Maybe not up to what you would expect from Walter Hill?
Maybe that's a part of the reason for the bad reviews?

It is by no means a "woke" production, but it does conform in that regard.
Maybe that worked against it as well?

In any case, as a lover of westerns I thoroughly enjoyed it and recommend it to
anyone who appreciates a decent western.
