DVD Release date: September 21.

Finally, a prayer that I have been secretly sending out for months has been answered.

According to the news hounds over at The Playlist, the latest film from filmmaker Harmony Korine, TRASH HUMPERS, will indeed get both a theatrical release (albeit a limited one), as well as a DVD release.

The outlet is reporting that the film will hit New York on May 7, and will move to Los Angeles on May 14 and San Francisco on June 6, and will ultimately (at this point) finish out on June 18 in Seattle. For DVD, the indie rock label Drag City (who released the soundtrack to Korine’s last film, MISTER LONELY) will release the film on September 21.

This has been a film that I’ve wanted to get my hands on since it first hit at TIFF, and after reading our review of it, as well as watching our interview with director Korine, my anticipation is only rising. The first (completely insane) trailer had me hooked, and now we can all finally get a chance to check this film out.

Great!
I live in Germany so I have to wait for the DVD (or BD) release.
I'll spread the word!

Thanks. I think I'll wait for the DVD release.

I've liked Korine's previous work very much, but I'm not sure about this one. After the beauty of Mister Lonely (I liked that film a lot), this seems like a step backwards into a "punk aesthestic". Not to mention I don't know if I feel like putting out 11 bucks to see it at a theater (it's playing for a week at the Cinema Village here in NYC).

It's gotten mixed reviews, but all of Korine's work has. Gummo was trashed when it was released, but I thought it was fascinating and defended it.

You go, girl. I always wanted to stand up and defend Gummo too, but never had the courage because I've always been a heavy girl and I don't really like calling attention to myself.

I for one am no great fan of the "punk aesthetic" either. If you like punks so much, why don't you just put your movie on the garbage can or in a church library? I'm so over it.

But I'll buy anything that's got my girl Chloë Sevigny in it. She is so amazing. I think she's supposed to be one of those ugly old men under the masks and shi t.

If you give a linear description of Gummo, people look at you like you're insane. One has to watch the whole film for the experience.

I'm surprised that Korine would go back to "punk" after his wonderful Mister Lonely. That film was shot on 35mm with scope framing, and it looked great.

I'm not sure Chloe is in Trash Humpers. Her and Harmony broke up a long time ago.
