Its like one long game, and I believe we'll win
Saw this last night, saw the preview so I kind of knew what to expect. I also laughed for the first half hour, but then (Spoiler) they broke the 4th wall and revealed that the cameraman was a character and then killed the first guy.....and I stopped laughing.
What sticks with me is that speech in the car, the one and only semi-contrived moment. It shouldn't have worked because it really didn't fit with the characters being analytical and semi-articulate, but really I don't think the film would have worked without it. What strikes me is that I sort of agree with what he said. Not in the sense of rooting for people like that, but in the sense that they probably will win. Whatever happens to the human species, there's a good chance that the very last humans on this planet will be exactly like this. Scary.
That's what I took from this film.
