I don’t know how to feel about this one (mild spoilers) (and a question)

It sure seems like a lot of pure joy and passion went into making this splatter flick, and I can respect that.
But overall, the movie was kinda bad. Like, not horrible. Definitely entertaining, in a way, I guess…
Felt like there were some cool ideas that were hobbled by a low-budget and second-rate performances…?
Most of the movie felt like video-game cut-scenes, and if that’s what they were going for, then good for them. (This applies especially to the Mad Scientist portion)
This is my first viewing of any movie in the V/H/S series, and I’m wondering if this one is par for the course, or should I give the others a chance?

This movie has a strong similar style to V/H/S/99, but with weaker segments.

On the other hand, the first two V/H/S movies felt similar in their own ways, but different from V/H/S/94 and V/H/S/99. V/H/S: Viral is mediocre and forgettable. The "Amateur Night" segment from the first movie also got its own spinoff movie called SiREN, which was a solid movie.

Cool, thanks for the response!

I'd say to give V/H/S/2 a shot first because it has easily the craziest and most bizarre segment called "Safe Haven" (about an Indonesian cult) which is my absolute favorite segment of all. If you enjoyed the second movie, then watch the first movie, and you might enjoy V/H/S/99 more than you expect.

I know how I feel about it. It sucked. I gave it a 3/10. Worst of the series, though I've yet to see VHS99.
