Have you seen the film? Then you would know 'slutiness' isn't glorified.

*shrugs shoulders* Meh.

This from a teenager.

She's a slut in the movie and isn't that likeable. Most of the movie isn't really about her, so it's kind of unfair to judge, especially when you no doubt haven't seen it.

reply

And your point is???

reply

There's no point, nobody cares, because it's the way of life, nowadays.

Tamara's too passive to be a successful protagonist. The 3 men and the 2 girls are far more active, as indeed id the American academic.

reply

a single, consenting, adult woman having sex on a regular basis?

what the hell is wrong with that? if she's safe?

in this movie, Tamara was "guilty" of is bad taste in men and sleeping with a married man. (that guilt goes to both of them.)

what about the afore mentioned total prick who repeatedly cheats on his wife? no castigation for him?

or the wife who knows and stays with him anyways. the prick was right. she does "let him".

or the young man who has a casual shags with someone he isn't "committed to".

or the stupid young girl who plays with people's lives as if there are no consequences?

or the shallow, self-centered rock star who's just a bit of a *beep* [uh, IMDB, "prick" is okay, but gob@#it isn't?]

i'm just saying, if you're going to pick on somebody in this movie to be judgemental about, you've got a lot more to choose than Tamara. this movie was in such a gray area (in addition to being a flat-out farce and a black comedy) that if the only thing you got out of it was that it "glorified sluts" than you completely missed the point.

I haven't seen the film. These kind of films depress me, mainly because it advertises promiscuous behavior...I hate being a stick in the mud- I'm too young to be harking about values and crap, but I can't enjoy romps like other people do.

the advertising was a bit misleading, also because the movie couldn't be boiled down to simply promoting "promiscuity".

i think the judgement of promiscuity (mostly aimed at women)is in the eye of the beholder. i think consenting adults should be able to have sex with whomever they chose - obviously it would be best if they were safe about it, but what other grown-ups do in their private lives is none of my business.

(I'm turning 40 in two years.)

i think the only values we need in life are 1)try to be happy, 2)try not to make other people unhappy. if one can't do either, than some self-examination and introspection is probably a good idea.

Over the course of an entire year an unmarried woman has sex with a total of two men. This makes her a slut in your eyes? I think some perspective needs to be gained.

Just watched the movie and i agree, some people are overreacting to her having sex with two men, they were 6 months apart so that is far from being a slut. Sleeping with the older guy just made no sense, he was a jerk and that just made her look like a silly girl.

I was expecting more from the director of the movie, it was lacking something and I do not know what it was.

Tamara Drewe was not a likable character and there was no real development with her, other people there were and even with the brats there was some development
