How did Ben know about Jody??

Hi all!!

I just saw the movie and found it alright: a pleasant couple of hours. I'd never come across the graphic novel, so I thought I might ask this here, in case anyone had better info on the topic...

The plot is pretty straightforward, but the one thing I didn't get is this: how did Ben know about Jody's intrusions in the end, when he confronts her in Tam's house?? At first I thought it was because she had proved inept at keeping the dog, but then I realized she hadn't taken charge of Boss yet and had actually gonne to the house to pick him up...

Any clue??

Maybe the novel is clearer on this point, and whatever tipped Ben off was just cut short to move the story along...

just saw the movie today and i'm wondering the same thing. anyone?

[you name it, i'll claim it]

I though that it was because of how she acted. First he heard her addressing him by his first name and going around the house as if she knew her way. Then he saw that she was a schoolgirl and thus not likely to be certified to look after dogs. Also, the fact that she freezes still when he appears is a big giveaway.

Are you talking about when he sees the red scarf hanging up by the door?

I realize you may have gotten an answer in the five months since this original post, but I've just seen the film, and think I got how this happened.

In one of Jody's email-intrusions at Tamara's house, she sent Ben an email (as Tamara) suggesting a getaway of some sort (I think), and offered Jody's name and phone number as someone to take care of the dog. From what I can tell, the subsequent phone call from Ben to Jody to arrange the meeting is what led him to figure it out.

I could be wrong, but that's how I understood it.

There is also the final clue where her ringtone is one of his songs. She's obviously an obsessed fan.

Poor you. Except for lordtufty, none of these users even understood your question.

I'm wondering the same thing and had hoped to find an answer. But my hunch is it's a case of sloppy writing.

Agreed.
First of all, earlier in the film Ben suspected that someone else had sent the e-mail.
Second, Jody walked into a stranger's (Tamara's) house without knocking. She seemed to know her way around.
Third, Jody is too young to be qualified as a responsible dog sitter.
Fourth, Jody got a call and she had a ringtone of one of Ben's songs = a very serious fan. Maybe even an obsessed fan.

* Putting that all together Ben accused Jody of being the person who broke into Tamara's house and who sent the e-mail.
He made a guess based on the clues.
Jody freezing up showied that she was guilty.

BB ;-)

it is just in my opinion - imo - 🌈
