Why didn't they set this adaption in the modern day?

Has anyone seen 'Once Upon A Time'? Thaat's a great show, really... Why doesn't Hollywood put their greatest minds to work, and adapt this 'thriller' into a modern day film?

'Did you lose your fight, huh?'
'No... I just found it.'

Because it's easier to have a whole community believe in werewolves if they are ignorant, superstitious, middle Eurpean medieval peasants than contemporary townsfolk with access to The Internet and modern movies.

Plus it would be accused of ripping of the the TV series 'Grimm'

Once Upon a Time is set in modern times.

I agree... They were using contemporary music, styles and words anyways... why not just drop the fake medieval thing that didn't work at all and just move it to something contemporary.
The only thing that works for the film is the "who did it aspect"! So a contemporary thriller/mystery would be just as efficient!

Those are my principles, and if you don't like them... well, I have others.
