SPOILER: Did the dad cook the grandma?
He never did answer what Valerie was eating...and it looked like meat...

I have a feeling it was her. After that, and all the death and destruction, I don't know why they bothered to give this movie a corny happy ending, or any happy ending at all. She most likely ate her own grandmother. There's no happy after that.
shareIs the ending really a happy one?
Valerie ends up with a werewolf like her father. How can this be happy?
P. A. T. (Needy's Boy)
The ending is "happy" because everyone is safe, she's safe, she knows the wolf won't kill her because he loves her, etc. etc. etc.

I have a soft spot for the ending (really), but I'm troubled by the psychological implications of the werewolf symbolism.
Certainly the werewolf symbolizes bestial passions?
Valerie's father should have loved her too, and Grandma. Valerie can take care of herself -- she stabbed Peter on the path when she thought he was a threat. However, will she have to stab him in the future? Will she have to defend herself, or her daughters? Dark stuff.
Valerie says Peter is true -- let's hope so!
P. A. T. (Needy's Boy)
Crap. I never thought about that...plus if Peter is true then he'll stay true to the bestial passion of the werewolf...

Well, that's the stuff of fan fiction!
P. A. T. (Needy's Boy)
I can't help but reply. Peter was so hot physically and emotionally. He cared for Valerie in such ways, and for so long. I can only imagine what went on in that forest. LOL. The blu-ray has an alternate ending that left me reeling for more.
*How many did you love before me?
None
*And after me?
None
I thought about that when Valerie says she's going to live at her Grandma's house. I thought right there "Yeah, I'm going to live in the house where I killed my own werewolf father. Yay!!"
Look at this signature. Good. Now you'll remember me.
In the original screenplay, the Father cooked the grandmother and fooled Valerie into eating the stew (and into drinking a bottle of her grandmother's blood) because, according to the original werewolf lore of the screenplay, a woman could only become a werewolf if she inherits the curse, tastes human flesh and is bitten.
In the final film, it is merely implied that the stew is made of the grandmother, and I think Cesaire made the stew out of her to dispose of her body.
It was Grandma......
"my how delicious you are" eeek
