Why do the teenage male characters have modern hairstyles?
It's like the movie didn't even try to be historically accurate. Men back then didn't have hairstyles like that.

shareI said the same thing to my girlfriend, lol. I guess this movie is aimed for teenage girls. 7/10
Look at the night sky, where does it end?
To look "dreamy" for the tween morons that liked this Twilight tier crap.
shareI was wondering the same thing. I'm at about the halfway point in the movie and am not looking forward to the rest. It's (the guy's hair) one of the first off-putting things about this movie. When they put so much effort into creating an amazing setting for the story, you'd think certain other efforts would follow. Another silly thing early on...the wolf/werewolf leaves its victims in remarkably tidy condition. I'm not big on excessive gore, but from what I've seen thus far, it looks as though the monster just knocks people down and they die, with little blood shed. The dancing during the village celebration is pretty bad too. People in medieval Europe didn't move that way. It's one of the reasons rock & roll was such a big deal when it came along. Then we have the token black characters that are anachronistically placed in most medieval-era films these days. And no, I'm not a racist. Quite the opposite. It just seems insulting when it's done this way. I was determined to give this movie a fair chance, having heard nothing but bad reviews. It's going to be difficult sitting through the rest, unless things take a turn for the better. And back to the original question, people don't have to look "modern" to be sexy in period films. Some of the more realistic period films had some pretty hot scenes, even without hair gel.
shareThe better for you to swoon over them with.

because they look better with their hair like that.
to be honest the modern hairstyles don't bother me....i was too busy hoping the guy that played peter would take some clothing off...haha
Dearest Enemy, you should have never trusted me
You b!tch
Because Catherine Hardwicke (who used to be a production designer) simply doesn't know how to do anything but what she knows works with teenagers... who are the target group.
Also you can't have flat random hair when the acting is flat and random...
Those are my principles, and if you don't like them... well, I have others.
"not historically accurate" gave me a chuckle. Yes... the movie was not true at all to the fantasy land I know and love.
Honestly, I wish the hair was the only thing I didn't enjoy about this movie. It just had no redeeming qualities for me, not even T&A, which I don't really watch movies for anyway... that's why they made internetz.
Setting reminded me of The Village, which was more disappointing for me because Mknight? doesn't have a clue about having decent "twists" to finish off his movies. I know it's off topic, but he loves to leave a huge Stanley Steamer on top of movies I found enthralling.
I wonder what exactly the hairstyles were like back in the 1300s?? Seems the OP was pretty sure that they did not resemble the hairstyles in this movie. Plus, not getting how this movie could compare in any way to The Village, which was a very good, suspenseful movie with a nice twist at the end. However, those types of movies are hard to watch a second time, as you know the twist already.

It wasn't only the black guys - the main hottie's haircut was ridiculous.
This movie indeed did not even try to be historically accurate. Not a surprise though, considered its target.
🐺 Boycott movies that involve real animal violence (& their directors) 🐾
i mistook it for an Old Navy commercial until the wolf appeared.
shareLOL! I always wondered the same thing than the OP!
Prostitute: What the *beep* are you doing?
Johnny: I'm gonna kill a bunch of people.
