Start date?
This was supposed to start shooting in September but there has been no news lately. Does anyone know the status of the film?

shareHugh has just confirmed that he is trying to work out for filming to take place in Australia.

FOX has a very large studio in Sydney ( used for international productions) and tax incentives could come into play into the decision. Also, Hugh is doing a concert series ( Broadway to Oz) across 5 key cities in Australia late in the year, based on his Broadway show in 2011 called BACK ON BROADWAY. A major difference is that the show in Australia will feature a cast of 150, including triple threats, orchestra, production staff. I wonder if he is going to cast some people from the various talents ( performers and musicians) available from the show for the forthcoming movie?
I am really looking forward to seeing this, thought it was supposed to be released December of 2016, now I heard it got moved to December of 2017.
shareIt wasn't ready for filming late this year and it could not be re-scheduled early enough in 2016 to meet the December 2016 release date. Hugh needs to do WOLVERINE 3 early next year, as it is booked for release in March 2017. Greatest Showman filming will follow after that, hopefully.

Title: The Greatest Showman on Earth
Category: Feature Film
Genre: Biography / Drama / Musical
Shoot Date: July, 2016
Location: New York, NY
Story:
The film is the story of American showman P.T. Barnum, founder of the circus that became the famous traveling Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus.
It looks like major casting has been completed; the final script may be at hand, the musical score as a working start is likely complete ( and ready for sound studio recording, before filming), and a decision to film in NYC seems confirmed.
Variety, which broke the story on the casting of Rebecca Ferguson as the Swedish singer Jenny Lind also reported that a fall start date for filming is now indicated.

That sounds more likely now because the major elements seem to be in place -- maybe official pre-production is now underway or starting soon?
