He was married to Julia and Vika was his co-pilot. Vika had an obvious attraction to him but it was also obvious he did not return her feelings. Thus, the reason why Vika was so jealous of Julia when Jack found her again.

It's a shame IMDB shut down their message boards because there were some really great posts about the plot holes and how they may not have been plot holes. Lots of interesting stuff to read about the movie. I enjoyed it but yes, it definitely leaves many unanswered questions.
I thought it was campy. The Freeman characters with the sunglasses made me laugh.
shareYeah, I thought the film makes this pretty obvious. Julia straight up tells him they were married, and he's having "memories" of giving her the ring, so it's spelled right out for everyone.
It also explains why Vika is so uptight, never agreeing to go to the surface with him, never agreeing to bend the rules even slightly, and wary of Julia from the moment she is recovered. As noted, Vika clearly had a crush on Jack, who was married to someone else. Clone Vika gets to cohabit with the man she loves, but she too is probably having those same genetic "memories" and on some level knows they aren't supposed to be together. As a result, she won't do anything to rock the boat and possibly start the ideal situation she has unraveling.
You are correct. Jack also confronts Vika about her having her own memories as well and it's obvious she does after he does so.
I actually really like this movie. I've watched it a few times and it doesn't get boring π
I think the flashback scene where they are in the spaceship and Vika takes a snapshot that looks like they're a couple has something to do with their pairing together as clone-mates. The computer got fooled by that one piece of data.
