yep, tsunamis so huge that they towered over Wall street deposited many feet of mud above and sand on them...grass grew over them, and only in certain places did the new "plains" give way to canyons to the streets below

Atomic and maybe even Meteor blasts may have further deposited more earth and the 'new' surface
