Why do the drones die differently?

When the sergeant shoots one of the drones in the death star like weak spot, when they are outside, it goes nuts and starts bouncing off everything (don't remember if it explodes). When he does the same thing inside their base, with all those people around, it just drops dead. Why is that?

Obviously the second shot did more damage.

No it's because they had to give people a happy ending. This makes no sense but you know imdb.

We don't know if Tet can remove atmosphere quickly, it's rather speculative of you to assume so.
