KOWALSKI is NOT totally wrong

While this movie is hated by many, it was perfect for my wife and I. I’m am white Canadian and she is black Ivorian. Thing is, we will be demanding towards such movies since they basically talk about us. You People (great title) is just comically depicting the very fine line between open-minded acceptance and straight up racism. The scene where black girl first meets white boy’s parents was very funny. When Duchovny mentions the girl’s hair resembling Xzibit’s I laughed out loud because I’ve been doing this eye same joke for 8 years now. Other scenes were more of a standard one-size-fit-all comedic style but bottom line is we both laughed and enjoyed most of it. Where the movie lost points for us was with the girlfriend’s attitude getting unrealistic and irritating. She was way too condescending, mean with the step-mom and acted like a bitch when boyfriend tried to share his contacts to help her get a job. One other thing we agree with the reviews is about the story running in circles for too long. It’s sad because they prevented this from being a great racial comedy by forcing characters to say/do stuff just to get to the romantic ending they wanted. Shame. Oh and finally, the soundtrack is fire!! I’d buy the CD for sure. My rating: 6.5/10

I thought it had plenty of funny moments and was enjoyable. The characters and situations are so exaggerated it's funny. 6.5/10 is right where I would put it too.
