Why was Weinstein so concerned they had Gwyneth on the record?
There is a scene where he is in conf call and asking over and over if Gwyneth spoke out.

shareBecause being the most famous of his victims would give credit to the story.
shareBecause the movie is produced by Brad Pitt.
Other than that, she actually did not do shit to get this scumbag.
Her services for him got her an "estimable" career and a "very well deserved" oscar, so why would she?
The portrayal of Weinstein being convinced Paltrow was in the article, and his repeated questioning about it, is exactly as it is written in the book. Weinstein was convinced she was in the article because he had intel that she had been speaking with Cantor and Twooey (I am guessing he had Black Cube operatives investigating her and Twooy and Cantor, as he did other women and other journalists).
shareOk, so she was speaking with them. About what?
My best guess is, she was comparing notes on vagina scented candles, because she was nowhere to be seen with the accusers of this scumbag.
So, ok, Weinstein was convinced she was part of it, because he knew if there is somebody that could accuse him of handing a part for a fuck is her, and he heard she was talking.
But in reality she did zilch to get him.
Weinstein had intel (I am guessing from Black Cube?) that Paltrow was speaking with Twooey and Cantor. Because Weinstein knew Paltrow was speaking to them, he was convinced that she had agreed to be named in the article (but she had not). It was a big deal to him because he had been applying pressure on her not to go on record.
And because he and Paltrow had entered into a sort of agreement following his harassment of her in the ‘90s that he wouldn’t try again, so she continued to work with him. She was the only woman that he kept that promise to.
