Why does that seem so odd? There are comedies that have gotten Oscar noms - "Annie Hall" actually won Best Picture, and "The Goodbye Girl" was up for the same award, that same year.

Melissa McCarthy should have won; she gave a memorable comic performance and pretty much stole every scene she was in.
