To all those who say MJ looked very ill in this movie....

Were we watching the same film?

He was remarkably active...running up and down the stage....stunning the director and crew by doing the same long dance routines again and again. You can see at one point, they were all just overwhelmed by his amazing stamina. The director says, "you don't have to do it again" and MJ does. He was in terrific shape.

MJ also looked very keyed-in, emotionally. He was sharp and insightful during the rehearsals, giving plenty of advice and running up and down the stage talking to dancers with a lot of passion and vigor.

Certainly didn't look like someone a couple of days away from death.

Some have said MJ looked very gaunt and thin in the movie. That's hard to say. To me, MJ always had looked this way....at least for the last 10+ years of his life. He never looked natural, so that begs the question..."what WAS normal for MJ?" He never looked right, to me.

Anyway, I've read at least two reviews of the movie that point out in what great shape MJ looks in this movie.

I just watched this and I know nothing abot what people say about this or that but when I was watching this I was constantly thinking that this man does not look 50. The stamina as you mentioned and the cardio on that 50 year old Michael Jackson was astounding.

When the end came I was happy they had released this as it felt really fresh and enlightening seeing such an artist do the rehearsal.

I enjoyed this immensely.

I thought that Michael looked much better in This Is It than what he did during the 30th anniversary concerts back in 2001

He had a Lupus flare around 2001 & took prednisone a steroid to keep it leveled. Predisone is known to make you bloated, hence his look at that time period.

If you watch the David Guest documentary that came out a few years ago people were saying this is where his addiction various pills first started to become apparent. Supposedly just a few hours ago they struggled to get him out of bed after taking some kind of strong sleeping pill which caused him to look out of it (as I always felt he did) during the show.

He looked very ill period. Well, ever since he underwent metamorphosis.

I agree with you. His license since the 80s indicated a weight of 120lbs & John Landis wife who did his costume during Thriller has said that he was 100lbs at that time. I imagine she has an exaggerated figure there but nevertheless, his autopsy states that he was 136lbs. So I believe that, besides according to this guy, MJ was RIPPED! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-uA7ZEYp8tk

PS. The paramedic thought MJ was a hospice patient bec of all the medical supplies/equipment in the room (ie. the O2 tanks, IV saline drip, catheter, & MJ apparently wore a sleeping cap, etc.), plus the fact that he had a physician there. The paramedic explained why he thought this (ie. as mentioned above), which the troll below with multiple accounts has failed to mention. Plus MJ looking fragile, thin, frail, etc. have been said of MJ constantly every since Thriller, this isn't anything new. Might as well have been talking about MJ 30 years ago, except he was thinner then than on the O2 concerts. The coroner knows more than some random troll on some MJ board.

Those who followed Michael through his "phases" must know that Michael did not look right in his last days. Whoever used 'gaunt and thin' chose appropriate terms.
It doesn't matter what he did onstage. It's what was going on behind the scenes that convinces me that he wasn't healthy. That's why he's not here anymore.

Plus, the paramedics who tended to him, were interviewed said that he looked like a hospice patient when they first saw him lying in the bed. That was two days after some of that filming.

"and he NEVER runs around the stage dancing."

Eh... were we watching the same movie???

I should warn you, princess, first time tends to get a little... messy

unfortunately mj looks ill because of the treatments he went through for his skin. he may have been ill during this, but michael is is a perfectionist when it comes to his art. he would never go on camera (even for rehearsals) and not give his best. since cardiac arrest was the cause of his death it's not unlikely that he was ill during these rehearsals. whatever the reasons that caused his death are irrelevant. it seems an early death is much more likely when you're a rockstar.
