Why do idiots on here keep saying shes in her 40s, shes 45 etc

Can people on here not read, they are saying she is too old for a baby, shes in her llate 40s, shes 45, will her baby have downs because shes in her late 40s

Try reading the plot of the movie which is the following.....The continuing adventures of British publishing executive Bridget Jones as she enters her 40s.

She is ENTERING her 40s which means she is not yet 40 or just turned 40 in the movie..she is NOT 45 and NOT late 40s for god sake.

reply

ANYWAY,now that she's in her 40's...excuse me,now that she's 40...kinda risky to have a baby.

reply

That's not true.

reply

yes it is,but stay in denial if you want(at some some unborn child's expense,i'm guessing...)

reply

Risky but not impossible
At any age it can be risky...

reply

Because the majority of people on here have yet to hit puberty and haven't even slept with a girl, even less, made one pregnant.

reply

They obviously forgot to fix the 8 year old script. Should be called Bridget Jones: Corky's Revenge.

reply

Actually she turned 47 this year if IMDB's birthdate for her is correct.

reply

The OP is discussing the character, not the actor.

reply

yep, I wonder if people are getting mixed up and thinking her character is the same age as the actress lol

Pregnancy in a woman over 35 is considered high risk. It doesn't mean that she won't have a normal pregnancy, birth or child. But, people forget that having the baby is the first stage. Having an infant and toddler is exhausting. Being in your 50's and having an angsty teenager is overwhelming. Helping a child pay for university in your 60's, when you should be retiring is almost too much.

It's difficult to be a parent late in life; it's irresponsible to even consider doing it alone.

Not that this character will do it alone. Of course, she'll find happiness, marriage and the perfect nanny. I think I just threw up a little in the back of my throat......

Couldn't agree more.

I'm not saying women can't have children in their 40s since everyone's circumstance is different (eg. Got married late or been trying for years) but any age over 35 IS high risk. Here in Canada the docs are starting to give women 35+ the non invasive prenatal blood test to rule out Down syndrome and trisomy 13/21 at no cost (covered by the government) as standard prenatal care. If you're under 35 you'd have to pay for it yourself.

She (the character) is 43 in this movie...

reply

Yes she gets pregnant right after she turns 43 and has the baby while she's still 43.

There are a few jokes about her age including the doctor telling her it's a geriatric pregnancy.
