This isn't based on the 3rd book?

Reading the description of the 3rd book, it sounds like this film has nothing to do with it. I wonder why they decided to go in a different direction?

=====BOOK SPOILER=====

Probably because the third book was depressing as hell. It starts with Mark being dead.

I actually loved the third book! Didn't think I would with how it starts but by the end I didn't want it to finish. But no this film is nothing like it in anyway whatsoever.

I agree with this completely. All of the silliness and gags and nonsense was getting a little tiresome, but by those last 75 pages or so it totally found its legs. I teared up and also didn't want it to end. I loved that Bridget got herself her very own former SAS James Bond type described in the book as looking like Daniel Craig even down to those piercing blue eyes! Is it possible to be jealous of a fictional character because I am! I also kept thinking how Mr. Wallaker was solid and dependable and real like Mark Darcy. Lightning struck twice for Bridget!

Since the current movie isn't based on this book at all, I'm hoping that they will turn this one into a movie in the near future.

The film does not have anything to do with the 3rd book, which was completely depressing. I don't recommend it, really.

I loved the 3rd book. I heard the film comes in between the first two movies and the book. So maybe they'll make a film of Mad About the Boy too now.
