Enough about age, can we talk hypocrites?

Since she's a white, upper middle-class woman, we're supposed to think it's cute that she's pregnant and doesn't know who the father is. If she was a woman of color or working-class, everyone would think the premise was awful.

Everyone? Are you sure??

No, you're right. "Everyone" is too strong. Only the white, middle-class hypocrites who think this movie is cute would be the ones who would be turned off if Bridget was a POC or working-class woman.

I'm a white, middle-class man and truthfully the premise of this movie is absolutely disgusting.

Glorifying the idea that any woman should sleep with as many men as possible (and vice versa for men) to the point where she doesn't know who the father is and just "chooses" who she wants to be the father is outright deplorable.

It showcases just how much power women have in society if people find this "cute". At best this movie would showcase how hard it is for a woman who has no personal responsibility to live life. At worst it'll showcase that no matter what women do men will always "support them".

Seriously, take your hand off it otherwise you'll go blind 😉 She happens to sleep with two men (not as many men as possible) in the space of a fortnight. That's not exactly taking up residence on the nearest street corner! On both occasions she didn't go looking for it and on the second it was with the man she'd been in a long-term relationship with. I'm over the holier-than-thou attitude with so many on this board - most of whom don't even seem to have actually watched the bloody movie in the first place and are basing their comments on a trailer or two!

 Well said.

So you're admitting you are a Bond movie fan?

reply

Yeah - maybe I'm too desentisised to this sort of thing, but I'm not sure anyone would even care.

I don't think it's cute that she is pregnant and doesn't know who the father is, especially at her age. You would think by now she would have matured enough act a little more responsibly. I haven't seen the movie but I feel the premise of it reflects badly on all women, no matter what race or income level they are.

reply

Would people be saying the same if the movie was about a guy who happened to sleep with two women in a span of a week?

reply

It's cute because it's a comedy. You can do that with any race. Poverty would make it less funny. It's just a movie. Comedies especially aren't fully grounded in reality.
