Actually, I thought BJB was BRILLANT!

Hello everyone!

It seems as if the negative/trolling topics are overshadowing the positive reviews, so I wanted to put a short and sweet one out there!

I became a fan of Bridget from the get-go, though must admit I wasn't too impressed in the sequel (though Edge of Reason does have some moments, I thought it dumbed the series down.)

After Edge of Reason and the fact that Hugh Grant wasn't returning for Bridget Jones's Baby, my expectations were on the lower end of the spectrum (even the trailer added to my doubts.) But as a true Bridget fan, I had to support my girl.

On opening night in Londontown, the theater was sold out to giggly girlfriends, soon-to-be mums, and the occasional boyfriend brought along.

From the opening scene to the credits, we all laughed (and sometimes sighed) with each other non-stop. Somehow a skinny Bridget is just as lovable as an overweight Bridget, Mark Darcy, albeit older, is still breaktakingly handsome, and Patrick Dempsey's Jack is actually charming competition in the absence of Daniel Clever.

At moments, I even thought this might just be the best Bridget yet (though I imagine it wouldn't be so had it not been for the love and fans of the previous films.)

So, WELL DONE! I welcome a 4th film should there be one, and am completely happy and content with Bridget Jones's Baby should this complete the series.

BTW, Bridget is completely OWNING it in that last scene! Well done here!!! Ding-Dong!

I loved it too. I think Daniel not being in the movie was actually a blessing. It would have been there, done that. It's been great seeing Renee on all the talk shows. I forgot she had a southern accent. She is happy and she looks awesome.

I have watched the original since I saw this. She's an amazing actress and I am happy to see positivity and appreciated your post.
The crowd I was with loved when Mr. Darcy came on. And we sighed when Mcdreamy took off his shirt. I think Emma Thompson nailed it. Renee said on Harry Connick's show that Emma was a cowriter. Renee produced this as well. I hope more Bridget fans come see this. It's a good movie and hope women come out and see it.

I loved this film. It was like seeing old friends again - even Jack.

But on the subject on Renee on talkshows. I saw her on Jonathan Ross and she seemed really uncomfortable and didn't talk much. Is she always like this?

reply

Yeah she's usually awkward in interviews.

She just seemed so uncomfortable and quiet

The movie was an absolute delight. I plan on seeing it again soon.

It was charming and sweet and touching and funny as hell. I'm so pleased it all turned out so well. RZ was fantastic and played a new improved Bridget with so much lightness and confidence.

There were some cheesy bits but honestly that's why I live this character and series of films. I feel like I've been STARVED for a really good romantic comedy or drama film ever since the classic first Bridget Jones film so this was like getting to know old friends again.

Bravo Sharon Maguire!

No one is a bigger Bridget fan than myself, and I thought they did a brilliant job with the script. I didn't miss Daniel at all, and I thought that every question was answered for Bridget fans. Love the way they doled out the ending slowly and let us savor it. After all these years, we needed that!

Completely agree with the frist comment!!! Absolutely loved it and in many moments I thought that it was even better than Bridget Jones's Diary, over all I think it did justice to Brid and yes, I do agree that no one else could play Bridget , but I still think renee looked better like the chubby Bridget, it is not like she was obese, she just had a few extra KG, but it suited her, Colin seems much older, but they still do the most adorable couple ever :)

Loved how tehy brought everything together :)
