Would have been better without Dempsey

I saw this movie and was really let down with Patrick Dempsey. Why oh why would you put an American actor in this movie? It should've been all British actors. And I'm American!

I just did not like Patrick Dempsey and his character.

Also, by halfway I was waiting for this movie to end. It's seem to drag on a little too long.

Tom Hardy or Paul Bettony would be better choices. Hell even Stuart Townsend would settle.

Awww, I was slightly in love with him. I thought he was going to be revealed to be a total bastard but he was just lovely throughout.

Spoiler

Because this is a Bridget Jones's movie, I won't forgive Helen Fielding and Sharon Maguire if they let Bridget be with Jack.
How on earth Bridget and Mark weren't together the whole time at the first place?
But, my favorite character in this movie is Patrick. He is very likeable.
Renee in the theater version is much better than in the trailers here.

I liked him in the movie. I mean, his acting wasn't the greatest, but I still really liked his character. I surprisingly found myself rooting for him halfway through the movie.

I was also surprised at how much I didn't really like Darcy this time 'round.

Patrick in the movie Made of Honor (2008) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0866439/ was also very likable. He also had a rival (his girlfriend had another suitor), Kevin McKidd's character, who was very quiet the first time they met (Patrick and him) and was from Scotland if I remember correctly. Patrick's character thought Kevin's didn't play basket ball, but he did and he was so tall that he dunked the ball to everyone's surprise - to that Patrick uttered "He dunked the ball!" . I always remember him from that line.
He was also from Sweet Home Alabama. I hated Reese because the way she treated his character. He is always a likable and decent guy.

Back to the Baby movie.
Of course I always like Bridget and Mark together.
Patrick and his character, I like very much but the truth is, that has to be after Bridget and Mark together. If Bridget ends up with him then no way.

I thought adding an American was a good idea actually. What made him stand out was that he was "different". If the movie were to end with Bridget being with another guy other than Mark, I thought the only way this could be justified was that the guy offered Bridget something Mark could not.

I thought it was an obvious story before going to watch the film that Bridget just HAD to end up with Mark. It wouldn't make sense otherwise, with the whole 2 movies being about them.
But then when I started watching the film, and could see how Jack could also be the winning guy because he's so different, and can lead Bridget to a new start (with the new baby).

*Overall though, content with the ending and who she ends up with

Patrick Dempsey was the only reason I went to the cinema to see it, anyone else and I'd have just waited for the DVD.

so bollocks is bad, but dogs bollocks is good?

Except Bridget is actually played by an American actress...

And thank god for Patrick Dempsey in this film!

I understand he's a professional actor and has done well in other productions; however, in this movie his acting was flat and amateurish.
