So he's alive after all? I didn't catch exactly what the paper said at the end or why he had a funeral to begin with. Anyone help?

They had a funeral because he'd been missing so long he was presumed dead. Apparently Daniel is found alive, thus keeping the hopes alive for a FOURTH Bridget Jones movie.

I was confused too because in the book Mad about the Boy,Daniel is definitely alive!
