Would it have been as successful if it weren't Rob & Fab?

Girl You Know it's true was a solid Pop song for the time.
But we all know success in the music business doesn't just come because of the songs.
These guys looked good. They danced well (as ridiculous as it looks now).
They were part of the package that made if the perfect storm that it was.

Did they deserve to with the Grammy? in my opinion, no.
Neneh Cherry or Soul II Soul should have won. But that's just my opinion.

I saw a documentary years ago where they showed a little clip of the actual singers recording. IIRC, they were a couple of overweight, middle aged guys. I think they might not have been quite as successful. Image does matter when it comes to pop music. They did the singing, but I doubt they could've handled the dancing.

That said, we've seen unlikely people have hits. Phil Collins looked like he should have been doing the accounting for a rock band, not singing and drumming. Who knows?
