I didn't like this episode. It really dumbs Columbo down. I didn't like how he kept repeating the shapes of the map "Donald Duck", "Belly Dancer" and repeating stuff about the map that we, as viewers, just saw like 5 minutes ago.

I also didn't like how he really wasn't undercover for most of the TV movie. He sort of was, and then he wasn't.

I also thought they should not have killed off the guy from those Rocky movies. The two actors seemed to have really good chemistry, and I would have rewritten it so that they are cop/thief working together and they get the treasure; but also bring down a much more unlikable bad guy rather than the unmemorable corrupt "Insurance" guy they had.

The reason it's terrible is because it's not really a Columbo Episode, It's a TV movie based on a book which has nothing to do with Columbo, they just replaced the main character with Columbo to get viewers.
