"Agenda for Murder" and the chewing gum.

Was it really necessary to retrieve the chewing gum from the trash can? Columbo could had just taken the piece of cheese to Finch's personal dentist and check the bite. The chewing gum was irrelevant.

It is a storyline very hard to swallow. would Finch really have been so careless as to eat cheese and leave evidence of it at the crime scene? after planning everything so carefully?

Here's another one: how did Columbo find out about the "favor" that Finch and Mackey did to prevent Staplin from prosecution 20 years before? If Columbo had good evidence to sustain that case, then he would had submitted it to the justice department and declare both as heavy suspects.

Of course, most Columbo stories are implausible. But they are good for entertainment.

the one i spotted early on was the way the gun was fired. Its been a long time since I saw it, but I remember Oscar firing the gun either left to right or right to left (I don't remember which) but he places the gun in a different hand, or the way the blood splatters was inconsistent with the firing.

It was something like that.

reply

He certainly places the gun in the correct hand so might have been the blood splattering.
