3.5 out of 5 with just over 100,000 votes on Netflix

Which would be a 7/10 here of course.

I typically find Netflix averages to be more strongly correlated with my own ratings than any other source.

I've noticed that Netflix ratings are more in line with my tastes, too. it must be because there's a lot more "Average Joes" rating there and they cancel out the cinephiles and snobs to a large degree.

Yeah, that's what I'm assuming, too. More folks who just love films in general, all kinds of films . . . folks who aren't self-appointed elitist arbiters of what the artform should be doing, where they're expecting it or at least trying to push it to conform to their personal artistic, political, etc. agendas.

Have you looked much at the typical averages of films on rym, by the way? So far that seems to be even more on the snobby cinephile side of things. Typical ratings for films that wouldn't be Criterion Collection or Facets fare are very low there.

I haven't looked at a ton of RYM films ratings but yes, what I have seen has generally been even more harsh than IMDB ratings. Probably because RYM is made up of about 3/4 music snobs and i guess those folks tend to be snobs about film as well.
