How come Malcolm other son/Trent's little brother was not even mentioned
If you remember in part 2.Sheri gave birth to there son at the end.

Apparently(much to my surprise even), this movie is actually supposed to be a "rebbot" that follows the first Big Momma's House instead of the second. It says that on Wikipedia and apparently Martin has said it. So it ignores the second sequel, which means the baby doesn't exist in this one.
shareWow that's some excuse. I bet that was an after thought the producers and/or director said for Martin to say during the press junket. Instead of admitting a huge gaping plot hole.
Martin did admit that he will continue making these movies until people stop showing up. Consistency doesn't really matter, when every plot revolves around an overweight black women who's a bit of a smart-ass

Yeah when I read that I thought it was BS too. I saw the movie with a friend of mine Friday and all honesty I just chalked up the baby thing as the baby going to the spa with her or with a babysitter or something like that. I wouldn't doubt that they forgot about the whole thing and then at last minute just decided to call this movie a reboot.
shareI guess that I would assume that Shelly took the baby with her on vacation since it seems to be the only logical explanation or maybe she suffered a miscarriage and went on the spiritual getaway as a way to heel.
shareShe didn't have a miscarriage. If you watched the ending of part 2 .They where putting the baby in the car seat
shareI noticed that there were a few toys lying around their house in the early moments of the movie.
I especially remember a yellow Barney looking toy on the end table when Malcolm is about to leave out the house.

why would it matter where the baby was? that wasnt the focus of the movie.
shareFeel like I'm talkin to a troll but have 2 ask - whats ur view on focus of movie?
For me I just recently saw movie for first time tonight, and didn't even think about 2nd version where wife was pregnant. Think my main concern was fact that she wasn't going to be part of this movie along w/ original actor who played son. Oddly didn't dawn on me about other kid till I saw this thread.
Poop in his hand ... Poop in his hand
that's what im trying to say, that the baby had nothing to do with the movie. heck, it didnt even take place at their house. now THAT would be a plot hole (maybe) if they were running around the house and no one even sees or hears about the baby that should be in the house living with them.
shareI am rather surprised that there was no mention of Trent's little brother since Sherry was pregnant in the 2nd film.
shareIm not saying the baby even had to be present. There should have been some mention about his where abouts.

Eh, that's iffy. It's not like I ask my mom where my sisters are or for updates on their lives...dialogue shoved in the movie just to mention him wouldn't really serve a purpose....
Just because the baby wasn't the focus of the movie doesn't mean he couldn't be mentioned. Sherry wasn't the focus either and she was mentioned. Sure, she may have been a major character in the previous movies but still, the baby is family and unless they were truly retconning the events of the sequel, there is no reason for them to not provide this continuity tie so people can know the movies are linked.
sharea reboot?? When there's no more room in hell, The dead will walk the earth...
That wasn't the right term to use. The user means this movie RETCONS the second, so it's a direct sequel to the first and the second movie apparently didn't happen. But I so can't picture Malcolm and Sherry not having a baby of their own during the ten years they've been together. I feel like they would so want their own offspring together.
