In recent years NBC has broadcast live performances for the holidays. They've done Peter Pan, The Wiz, A Christmas Story and a few others that I can't recall at the moment.

I see it as a nostalgic throwback to the early days of television, when a lot of programs aired live.

Yes. Early TV was all live. That changed when Desi Arnaz created “the re-run,” so he and Lucy could take vacations; but the live broadcasts in the 50s did not SUCK ASS like the pitiful NBC live shows have uniformly done. 50s live Peter Pan starred the Broadway cast of the show. Modern Peter Pan starred an NBC news anchor’s daughter and Christopher Walken, who can’t sing.

I understand that but Annie's been done to death! i hope they do a movie version where she is solving whodunits with the dog!
