After the credits there's a short promo announcing Outrage 2 for 2011. This is surprising as Kitano has never made a sequel before.

I thought perhaps it's just some sort of direct-to-dvd sequel from another director. But since the announcement is included in the actual film...wow, great news. Thanks for the confirmation!

IMDB has a page for Outrage 2 with Kitano listed as the writer/director.

reply

Nice! I'm pretty sure that page didn't exist when I started this topic. So, thanks again!

Hey, perhaps we're getting even Outrage 3, check this out:

Okay, this is dated 'February 10th, 2010' and no update/news so far, but I've got a feeling that this couldn't be way out of possible.

"Not quite satisfied with how Outrage turned out, Kitano said in an interview in September 2010, "We just about made an interesting film. But if I analyze it carefully then I'd just about give it a pass mark. My own rating would be 60%, so I'm aiming for Outrage 2, to make something more entertaining."

This, and the fact that Outrage was Kitano's biggest box-office hit since Zatoichi, having earned over 750 million yen domestic in the first month, gave rise that Kitano was preparing pre-production of Outrage 2.

However, Variety could this Monday report, that despite Office Kitano yet had to make a formal announcement, the production of Outrage 2 had been put on indefinite hold, according to local reports."

Kitano-san is also apparently currently making a film called 'Anata e'. Make of it what you will.
