My understanding is that Paganism is a pantheistic religion, identifying divinity or spirituality in nature. Paganism has a god and goddess. Over time, it has come to mean any person not subscribing to any of the main religions of the world, and are seen as irreligious. Paganism (given its true definition) is certainly not atheist.
Just to add onto what Keachick said, Paganism has a ton of gods and goddesses, like gods for practically everything.
