When God 'takes' someone like the boy in the movie is He killing him?

I think that the phraze God takes so-and-so is misleading to non-believers and even to believers. It sounds like God kills someone. Death came into the world as a result of human disobedience to God, and according to the Bible there will come a time when death will be no more. When death takes a person then that person either goes to eternal destruction or if that person has been forgiven, then that person is taken by God to heaven. In that sense God takes a person. When considering death, people should be unhappy that it happens, and unhappy that at a point in time, with the very first people, there was a lack of trust and obedience to God that brought human death into existance. God could have just ended all of the world when sin came in, but instead he planned a way for people to obtain forgiveness and life even after death, through the true faith of being a dedicated believer in Jesus Christ. When someone looses their fight to live and the loved ones now are missing that person, it is sad. Jesus cried at a funeral too, but believers do have a hope that takes the sting out of death.

How about instead of all that, focus on the person's life. Be happy that they were born at all, and grateful for whatever amount of time you were given with them. Anything else is just unhealthy, Christian or not.

Christians do focus on somebody's life, which they lived on earth. You come across that you think it's an either or situation. If somebody believes in an afterlife they can't be celebrated for the time they had on earth? I have no idea what you're trying to say.

It sounds like he is trying to get it straight in his head. The only way the christian concept makes any sense is to not think about it too much, which is the blind acceptance of an irrational concept that you are preaching. It would be nice to envision a super fun lala land awaiting us when we die. Well, until you realize what that would really mean anyway.

I do agree that we should celebrate and cherish the life that was lead and not some cultish joy of death.

So billions of people are punished by God for disobedience of our ancestors that happened thousands years ago? Only evil god would do that. You can't punish us for our father's sins. Can't you see how wrong is that?

And how come imperfect humans should be punished for something that god knew we would do before it happened. He's responsible for that. It's like if I know something bad is gonna happen I try to stop it from happening. When I see a blind man walking to the edge of a cliff, I will stop him and not blame his free will. God doesn't do that. Simply, god can't be both good and omnipotent, because he would stop all evil on Earth. Everybody with eyes and brain can see that.

Some people evidently need to believe in a supreme being. As long as they leave me alone I don't care.

What I do find strange though is that they say when someone dies that the person has gone to heaven and is with god. Maybe I'm wrong but I thought the dead only will only rise when christ has his second coming.

I agree with peeeter-f wholeheartedly who I thought put forward his views quite succinctly.

God's ways are not 'our ways' and its mysterious at the same time; hence we cant and will never will comprehend 'everything' that had happened based on our own humanly knowledge and wisdom. If that were possible, we will definitely be gods ourselves won't we?

Im not saying we take delight on deaths and misfortunes, instead believe that if God really do allow them to happen then something is bound to happen for the greater good, whether it is in our own lifetime or not.

For indeed we walk by faith not by sight.

Actually, God is all Omnipotent, Omniscient and Omnipresent... When Christ came here on earth, He gave us our free will that's why it depends on us if we do good or bad. The real criminal in this world is Satan. He is the one who is provoking us and lying to us for us to do this and that. That's why he is called "The Father of Lies". Haven't you learned in English subject that the Almighty God's name should be capitalized? except for the fake gods? READ THE BIBLE DUDES! God Bless You!!!

I grew up Catholic and went through 12 years of Catholic, private education.

I know all about 'Him' and 'His' wacky ways.

God takes a person at a time already determined before we even existed, and in the case of a cancer patient or anyone who is suffering incredible suffering, it is truly an act of mercy for God and only God to take a life when the person is ready to let go, but even then it is God's decision alone, not ours...

My own sister died of cancer in 2006, and I was later told that she asked God to her take months earlier, because she had grown weary of her suffering, though she didn't tell me because she knew it would upset me (she was right)...

In my own life, I've been ill to a degree for the past 13 months and just recently have grown weary, and have asked God - respectfully as possible - to "please heal me or take me home", so we'll see what happens...

So, no, God doesn't kill what He created because He loves all He created with great care - we do the killing right down here, whether it be fellow humans or nature, and sadly that is a part of our sinful nature, so always pray to be God-like in all things, as this young boy was to all that he knew in this life...

To make a long story short yes it would be more apt to say God "recieves" them. From a biblical standpoint, even then it's up for dabate as to if he will recieve them in the future or at the point of death. The bible is not clear. which is why catholics invented limbo then recanted yada-yada-yada. MYSTERY. *insert spooky ghost noise*
