They took the goofiest shot of the movie and made a poster of it. It looks like a transformers movie, they should have put a picture of Rebecca Hall's new haircut as the promotional poster if they just wanted to scare the audience away.

Yeah, I think they're leaning too hard on trying to be too meta if not campy for lack of a better word.
