But Hardscrabble did remind me a lot of Meryl Streep in "The Devil Wears Prada". The way she talked, her mannerisms, all made me think of Miranda.

But seriously, when I first saw the movie, I wasn't aware of the voice cast and the moment I heard Hardscrabble, I thought that Streep had provided the voice for that character. Sort of a nod to her "Devil Wears Prada" character. Only after checking it out on IMDB did I realize that it was actually Helen Mirren's voice.

Haha yes! And I went through a similar thought process. But then some tiny part of my brain that I wasn't consciously aware of must have remembered or read somewhere about Mirren, because as I was watching I thought of her name too. I actually had to pause the movie and check the cast list because I am that OCD, and I knew it would have bothered me enough where I'd be trying to figure it out and wouldn't pay as much attention to the movie itself if I didn't just find out for sure!
But yeah, it certainly sounded a LOT like Meryl/Miranda, even after I knew it wasn't her.

I don't see that resemblance at all, either. I've never seen Meryl Streep in The Devil Wears Prada, so I can't pass judgement on THAT call, BUT when I first saw Dean Hardscrabble, I immediately was reminded of the Grand Councilwoman in Lilo and Stitch-same expression, same cultured-but-take-no-**** British accent, same combination of toughness and aristocratic grace and poise.
