What generates more energy: Child laughter or Adult Screams?
Interesting proposition
shareHmmmmm....my money'd be on child laughter. But child vs. adult laughter? That I might have to ponder.

Good question, indeed! I am leaning towards the laughter of a child being more powerful than the screams of ONE adult; bear in mind that in MU, when Sulley scared the adult rangers at the camp, there were several of them, and that scare was an epic, once-in-a-lifetime combination of effort, timing, and a lot of just plain luck. Attempting to scare adult humans on anything resembling a regular basis is just far, far too dangerous, since adults are often armed with weapons, can fully articulate what they saw, and are more likely to be believed than a small child, especially if they are educated, well-respected adults. The risks, in this case, outweigh the benefits.
Another intriguing question would apply to present-day times. Monsters, Inc. took place in 2001 and concluded in November of 2002, according to the date on Sulley's stock report data sheet on his clipboard near the end. At that time, digital cellular technology was still emerging. Many adults still did not own a cell phone and cell phones did just TWO things: make and receive telephone calls. They didn't take photos, or videos, or have instant access to the internet. Social media was in its absolute infancy, with no such thing as YouTube or Facebook or Instagram or Twitter. Real "smart phones" were yet to be available. Fast-forward a mere 12 years, and now nearly everyone has a smart phone, an iPod, a tablet, or all of the above, has instant internet/social media access at the touch of a button. Toddlers now have their own smart phones and iPods. Many parents place cameras and monitoring devices in their children's rooms. We know that remaining undetected by humans, by adults, anyway, is the key to the continued safety and survival of the Monster World. So, even if all the power companies have switched to Laugh energy as the means of powering their world, how, in this age of technology, would they continue to remain undetected?

Cover the camera and turn off the monitoring device?
