More movies like this?

I bought a DVD of Winnie the Pooh (2011) recently for my 2 year old son and he loved it! He has also seen The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh (1977) and he loved that one too! Basically, both these movies are his favorite and so I am here trying to find more like these. He doesn't enjoy movies like Toystory, Cars or Shrek.

Same here! My two year old wants to watch this movie every day! I feel like I really scored with this movie. Thanks for the 1977 Pooh tip.

Of ANY of the many, many sequels made to 1977's Pooh over the years (there are 9 film sequels in all besides this 2011 one - the majority of which were poor) - the only other I'd suggest is "Pooh's Heffalump Movie" - the length is about the same as this film, the character Lumpy (a purple elephant) is delightful and the songs are also sung with whimsy by a female artist. Here's a preview of a song:

I am sure you are well aware of the complete Disney Animated Feature Canon, of which both the 1977 and 2011 Pooh belong.

Of those 51 films currently released, 45 are hand drawn like this film was.

It's a bit hard to understand what your son likes - the hand drawn animation? The silliness? The gentleness? The short length of the film? Because Disney's 45 hand drawn animated classics vary greatly in style and genre. If you are looking for something gentle, I'd suggest "Fox and the Hound," or "Dumbo."

Have you ever heard of Studio Ghibli? If not, do yourself a favor and rush out and buy "My Neighbor Totoro" - a true animated classic that has delighted kids for two decades. Another excellent film by them is "Spirited Away." Disney handles dubbing these into English, although the original language was Japanese.

Here is Ghibli's full canon of films:

As a kid, I was delighted by "Once Upon a Forest": http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0107745/

Don Bluth also produced wonderful children's films. I'd start with "The Land Before Time" - here is his complete filmography : http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0089940/#Director

Finally, I think "The Iron Giant" is calm enough and beautiful: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0129167/

Hope this helps some!
